By customizing and editing certificate templates, among other things, catalog admins can choose to display information on certificates in a specific language, and change the date and time format displayed on certificates. This article describes how to set the language and format of the date and time of certificates.
NOTE
If you change the Locale settings of the course or training plan, edit the certificate template, or change a certificate template used in a course or training plan, all previously acquired certificates for this course or training plan will remain unchanged.

Certificate language
Catalog admins can change the display language of a certificate that users will receive when they complete training by editing the associated certificate template. This is done from the Learn365 Admin Center > Catalog Settings > Certificate Templates > select the relevant certificate template > Edit Certificate Template. For more information about how to edit certificate templates, see this article.
The display language of some parts of a certificate produced by a certificate template can be changed:
- Enter the Name, Description, and Content in the relevant language.
- The {duration} variable will display the text entered in the Duration field in the Basic details section of the relevant course or training plan configuration panel. Catalog and course admins can enter text in this field in the relevant language.
- The language of the {date}, {expirydate}, and {durationstd} variables is controlled by the Locale settings of the course or training plan in which the certificate template is used. To change the language of these variables, you need to change the Locale settings for the course or training plan in the Regional Settings section of the relevant course or training plan.
- The language of the other variables can't be changed and they'll be displayed on the certificate in the same way as they're recorded in Learn365. For example, if the department is recorded in English, it'll be displayed on the certificate in English.
- Text displayed on the Background Image of a certificate can't be edited directly. If you have an alternative image that shows the text in the relevant language, you can replace it by selecting Choose Image.
Certificate date and time format
Catalog admins can set certificate date and time formats using the following variables:
- {date} and {expirydate}. To edit the format of certificate issue and expiry dates, you need to edit the {date} and {expirydate} variables in the associated certificate template. This is done from the Learn365 Admin Center > Catalog Settings > Certificate Templates > Edit Certificate Template. For information about how to edit certificate templates, see this article.
- {duration}. To edit the display of the course or training plan duration that's used by this variable, you need to edit the Duration field in the Basic Details settings of the relevant course or training plan.
- {durationstd}. To edit the standard duration of a course or training plan that's used by this variable, you need to edit the Duration (standard format) in the Basic Details settings of the relevant course or training plan.
