Introduction
In Learn365, if learners are enrolled in a course which due date is approaching, a specific notification called Course due date reminder is sent to the learners to keep them informed. This notification is triggered by the following: learners are enrolled in a course with a set due date but haven't yet completed it at the time when the due date is approaching or haven't had their progress status manually set as Completed by a catalog or course admin.
In this article we describe possible scenarios of sending the Course due date reminder notification based on configuring and changing the course due date settings.
Completed courses
Due date isn't changed
The Course due date reminder notification isn't sent to the learners who have completed the course.
Due date is changed
The Course due date reminder notification isn't sent to the learners who have completed the course before the due date settings of the course were changed by a course or catalog admin.
Course with a set due date is retaken
Learners who have completed a course can initiate its retake or a retake can be initiated for them manually by a course or catalog admin. In case of a retake initiated for a course, the following happens depending on the course due date settings:
- If the completed course has a fixed date parameter set for the due date, then, after retake is initiated, the Course due date reminder notification is sent to the learner according to the Send Reminder Emails field settings of the notification template. - If the completed course has the number of days after enrollment parameter set for the due date and the due date hasn't been changed, then, after retake is initiated, the Course due date reminder notification isn't sent to the learner.
- If the completed course has the number of days after enrollment parameter set for the due date and the due date has been changed, then, after retake is initiated, the Course due date reminder notification is sent to the learner according to the Send Reminder Emails field settings of the notification template. Not completed courses
Due date isn't changed
The Course due date reminder notification is sent to the learners according to the Send Reminder Emails field settings of the notification template. Find more about the Send Reminder Emails field here.
Due date is changed
If learners haven't yet started or are in progress with the course and the due date settings of the course are changed by a course or catalog admin, then the Course due date reminder notification is sent to these users according to the Send Reminder Emails field settings of the notification template. Due date is removed from a course
If the due date of the course is removed by a course or catalog admin, then the due date reminder notification isn't sent to the learners of the course regardless their progress with the course.
