Perform & Engage 365 provides several admin roles, each designed for different administrative activities and levels of access.
Users who aren't assigned an admin role have employee capabilities. Users with direct reports also have manager capabilities.
This article provides an overview of the following roles:
- Super admin
- IT admin
- Department admin
- Security admin
- Read-only admin
- Conversation admin
- HR Business Partner
Super admin
Super admins have access to all administrative capabilities in Perform & Engage 365. They can manage users and configure organization-level features and settings. Because this role provides broad access across the platform, it should be assigned only to users who require organization-wide administrative permissions.
Typically assigned to: Senior HR or People team members responsible for administering Perform & Engage 365.
For information about assigning or revoking this role, see this article.
IT admin
IT admins can configure technical integrations between Perform & Engage 365 and external systems. For example, the IT admin role is required to configure user synchronization with Microsoft Entra ID.
Typically assigned to: IT team members responsible for identity management, user synchronization, or platform integrations.
For information about assigning or revoking this role, see this article.
Department admin
Department admins can view and manage data for their assigned departments without being given organization-wide administrative access.
Typically assigned to: Department heads or other users who need administrative access for specific departments.
For information about assigning this role, see this article.
Security admin
Security admins can manage user accounts and access security-related information, including user permissions, account activity, security reports, and audit information. They don't have access to performance reviews, check-in content, goals, or operational analytics.
Typically assigned to: IT security, information security, compliance, or audit team members responsible for user access and account security.
For information about assigning or revoking this role, see this article.
Read-only admin
Read-only admins can view organization dashboards, analytics, performance metrics, user lists, and the organizational structure. They can also access reports according to the permissions configured for each report. They can't modify data, manage users, or change settings and configurations.
Typically assigned to: Senior stakeholders, analysts, or auditors who need access to organization-level information without permission to change it.
For information about assigning or revoking this role, see this article.
Conversation admin
Conversation admins can create and manage conversation templates, plans, workflows, and related competencies. Their access is focused on configuring the structure and delivery of conversations rather than viewing employees' responses or completed reviews.
Typically assigned to: HR or People team members responsible for designing and administering performance review and conversation processes.
For information about assigning or revoking this role, see this article.
HR Business Partner
The HR Business Partner role gives users access to data and reports for specific assigned employees without granting organization-wide Super admin permissions. Users assigned this role have access to the HRBP dashboard. The features available from the dashboard depend on the organization’s Perform & Engage 365 plan.
Typically assigned to: HR Business Partners or other HR team members responsible for supporting specific employees.
For information about assigning or revoking this role, and assigning employees to an HR Business Partner, see this article.
