Required role: Super admin.
NOTE
To use the Talent Mapping feature, it must be enabled for your organization.
Introduction
The talent mapping feature in Perform & Engage 365 enables managers to evaluate their subordinates' performance and potential, and map out their learning and development paths based on these parameters.
A general talent mapping configuration consists of creating a talent mapping template, creating a talent mapping cycle where you add a template, and adding users as participants of the talent map cycle.
By default, employees can't see the talent mapping charts and data tables. However, Super admins can give specific users and their managers access to a template.
This article describes how to set up, view, and manage talent mapping templates. To learn how to create and manage talent mapping cycles, see this article.
Create a talent mapping template
Creating a talent map template consists of creating a talent map grid, and optionally adding custom fields and giving people around the organization access to a template.
Create a talent mapping grid
1. Select Organization > Talent Mapping. The Talent Mapping Configuration page opens.
2. Select the Templates tab.
3. At the bottom of the page, select Add new. The Talent Mapping - Edit Template page opens.
4. Enter the Template Name.
5. Select the Allow line of sight access checkbox if you want the template to be visible to the user's line manager, and everyone up the reporting line.
6. On the Grid tab, select the Swap X and Y axis checkbox (optional).
7. The Enable calibration checkbox is selected by default. Deselect it if you want to run the template without calibration.
8. Select Performance or Potential from the Calibration axis drop-down list.
9. Under Preview Talent Mapping Grid, you'll see a preview of your template.
10. Select an edit button in a grid cell. A dialog opens, where you can select Box color, Box Label, and Description. Select OK to return to the Grid tab.
11. Edit the remaining boxes, as required.
12. Under Performance values and Potential values, you can change the Sort Order, Name, Value, and Calibration Value. The Reference calibration curve will reflect the changes you make to the Calibration value. Please note, that the changes to the axis values are saved instantly.
13. Select Add to add a row. To delete a row, select the bin icon.
14. When you're happy with your changes, select Save.
The talent mapping template is now ready to use in a talent mapping cycle.
To view or edit a template, select Organization > Talent Mapping > Templates. Optionally, you can add custom fields and give people around the organization access to a template.
Add custom fields to a template
You can add custom fields to a template. This adds additional columns to the table below the talent map chart.
1. On the Talent Mapping - Edit Template page, select the Fields tab.
2. Select + Add.
3. Select the Sort order of the field, enter its Name, select the Field Type (Choice, Yes/No, Text, or Person Selector), and select the Readonly checkbox if you want to prevent users from editing this field. To delete a field, select the red bin icon.
Give people access to a template
Super admins can access every template. Other users, including Managers, need to be granted access if they want to view templates.
1. Select Organization > Talent Mapping > Templates > select Edit next to the required template > Access tab.
2. Select + Add. The Add Access dialog opens.
3. Search for and select the required person, select the Line of sight box checkbox if required, then Save.
4. Select Save at the bottom of the page.
5. Select Bulk Upload Access. The BULK UPLOAD ACCESS TO TEMPLATE: <talent mapping template name> dialog opens, where you can Upload a CSV file. To give a line of sight access, select the Update existing accesses checkbox.
Edit a talent mapping template
To edit a talent mapping template, go to Organization > Talent Mapping > Templates.
The Templates tab displays all available templates. Select Edit next to a template to open the Talent Mapping <template name> page. Follow from step 5 onwards in Create a talent mapping grid.
You can optionally add custom fields to a template, and give people around the organization access to the template.
