Overview of how to control the display language, and the format of numbers, dates, and times, for the Learn365 user interface

Different factors influence the language and format of numbers, dates, and times are displayed in the Learn365 user interface: course catalogs, courses, training plans, the Learn365 player, notifications, certificates, and reports.

In this article, we'll provide an overview of what controls the display language and format of numbers, dates, and times of the different parts of Learn365.

In this article:

Course catalogs, courses, training plans, and the Learn365 player

The language of course catalogs is selected during the course catalog creation process and is inherited by courses and training plans within it.

This language defines the display language of Learn365 web parts of the course catalog—this controls the display of the course catalog home page, My Training Dashboard, as well as course and training plan home pages.

Also, this language defines the display language of the Learn365 player, in where learners interact with, for example, learning modules and quizzes.

However, ultimately, the language of Learn365 web parts and the Learn365 player user interface is determined by SharePoint settings. See this article for more information.

The format for numbers, dates, and time displayed in Learn365 web parts and the Learn365 player is determined by the user's browser settings. See this article for more information.

The Learn365 app for Microsoft Teams

For the Learn365 app for Microsoft Teams, the language displayed will be the language that the user has chosen as the app language from the Microsoft Teams app settings. See this article for more information.

The Learn365 mobile app

For the Learn365 mobile app, LMS admin or Microsoft 365 global admin can either select the default language of the app for all users or select that the language of the user's device will determine the language of the app. See this article for more information.

The format for date and time is MMMM dd, yyyy—meaning the mobile app will show the full name of the month, day of the month (from 01 through 31), and year as a four-digit number. For example, January 14, 2022.

The Learn365 Admin Center

The language of the Learn365 Admin Center depends on the individual browser settings of the admin in question. See this article for more information.

Certificates

The certificate language, date and time format of a certificate depend on the certificate template and variables used in it. For detailed information about how to manage the language of the certificate template and variables, the date and time format of variables, see this article.

Notifications

The Locale settings of a course or training plan determine the format of numbers, date, time, and the language of notifications related to the course or training plan in question.

See this article for more information.

Reports

The reports generated and downloaded from the Learn365 Admin Center display information in the language of the browser, if this language is supported by Learn365. Otherwise, it'll be displayed in English (United States).

The Locale settings of a course catalog, course, or training plan will determine the format of numbers, dates, and time of reports related to the course catalog, course, or training plan in question.
